Bird watching, aka “Birding”, is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the nation and Caddo Mounds will be hosting both a classroom session and walk around its wooded and wet land areas. Come join us; spring is the best time for hearing bird song and seeing a bird’s colorful plumage.
East Texas, with 353 species, is a great place to bird due to the diversity of habitats in the region. Dr. Brent Burt, Professor of Biology at SFASU, will present a brief presentation on the basics of bird identification and then lead a birding foray into the diversity of habitats represented at Caddo Mounds.
We expect to see and hear 30-plus species. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars (if you have them), sunscreen and insect spray.
