Coins from 500 B.C. to 1000 A.D.
The Vanishing Texana Museum has an exceptional series of coins minted from 500 BC to 1000 A.D. Many of the coins are linked together by events spanning centuries. It's the stories they tell that defines their real value. Included in the collection are some of the first coins to show an image Jesus Christ. Others, like the coins of Nero have a cross struck over his image by the local Christian community. Glass weights from the time of the Phoenicians, examples of counterfeit coins, and other interesting items are included in the exhibit.
